In France the average yearly production is 70 million hectolitres (about 9 billion bottles!).
The main French wine regions are shown by the colored areas on the map. The Beyond region (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur), shown by the white-bordered departements in the southeast, includes the southern part of the Côte du Rhône and the Côte de Provence wines.
